Gee is Gleacher Carter. She grew up in Bed-Stuy and East New York. After hearing more about the community in Red Hook, she decided to bring her dreams for a business to Red Hook.
Last year, she participated in the Blueprint Program at the Justice Center, where her mentors guided her with some advice on how to start up a business (check out her great website!). Gee graduated from high school while she was incarcerated and during that time, she also learned how to apply makeup and skin treatments for people with all kinds of skin.
Even before she knew she wanted to open up Gee’s Vanity, people would stop her and ask for her advice on their skin and on products. In college, she studied how to operate a business.
