In early 2023, a new Red Hook Civic Association (RHCA) was started. A previous, unrelated organization with a similar name, the Red Hook Civic, had ceased to be, almost three years prior.

Historic Precurser: Red Hook Civic
John McGettick, a Red Hook resident, ran the Red Hook Civic for decades. In early 2020, at about the time the pandemic hit, he sold his house and moved out of Red Hook. The Civic beame moribund. It used to meet in PS15 on the 4th Wednesday of the month at, 6:30pm. An agenda, generally covering land use and community issues was emailed a few days before each meeting. There was no website or published minutes, so there is no public record of activities of the Civic.
