Smith-9th Street Subway Station

The Smith-9th Street subway station is the primary subway stop for Red Hook.  The station serves the F and G lines.

Easy transfer is available on street level to the B61 bus to Red Hook.

At 87.5 feet feet above the ground, the station has the distinction of being the highest subway station in the world, and offers great views of Gowanus, the harbor and lower Manhattan.  Opened in 1933, it crosses the Gowanus Canal.

Artist Alyson Shotz created "Fathom Points + Compass Bearings" during the renovation of the station in 2013.  The piece spans multiple locations throughout the station.
