Gary Shiflett about Bushey, 2016
Oral History
video
Gary Shiflett, currently a fleet manager, used to work for Ira S. Bushey and Sons and Eklof Marine. In 2016, while standing in the galley of PortSide NewYork's MARY A. WHALEN - a "Bushey boat" - he told of some of his memories of working on ships. His first boat, the F.A. VERDON, shares ship plans with our MARY A. WHALEN. The MARY is hull #124 at the Mathis Shipyard, and the VERDON was #125, with both ships drawn on the same plans, the difference being that #125 had one extra pair of cargo tanks, making the VERDON 38' 3" longer.
