Grindhaus closed in December 2023.  The place re-opens after a re-branding as Ourhaus on Febuary 14, 2024.  Their new website is ourhausredhook.com

Grindhaus evolved several fusion cuisines since being well-reviewed from the start. The tiny restaurant had a devoted following amongst Red Hook locals and visitors to the neighborhood and was often mentioned in Eater.

After their pandemic re-opening, the entire backyard was stylishly enclosed with an elevated dining area towards the back and a screen for events. This space significantly increased the size of the restaurant.

The description of Grindhaus below gives an idea of their roots.

New American cuisine served in moody and quirky decor (eg, a ceiling painted in bold zebra pattern). In classic Red Hook style, the place embodies a dream founder Erin Norris worked hard to execute. She is on hand, and hands on, delivering the savory goods. Spectacular meats from Fleisher's and home made bread made every day.

From their website:

"We serve delicious, globally influenced, locally sourced food.

Our weekly array of 10-12 plates change every Thursday.

None of our plates involve tweezers; creativity and approachability are from the heart & hand.

Our bread is baked in Haus daily and will have one rethink a gluten-free diet.

Beef cuts from Fleisher's for our famous burger are ground in Haus a few times a week."

Menu updates are often found on the Facebook page of the restaurant or its owner Erin Norris.
