Visitation Place was originally Tremont Street. It was renamed on May 4, 1909, after the the Roman Catholic Church of the Visitation, that was built on the street in 1855.
Court Street was originally George Street in honor of King George. When it was officially renamed in 1835, Brooklyn's court houses were not yet built but probably planned.

Centre Street was officially plotted and named by the City of Brooklyn in 1835. Centre Street continues as Centre Mall through the Red Hook East Houses.
Verona Street was originally Ewer Street. The name was changed sometime before 1875. Herman Sherman speculated that it was possibly renamed in deference to a large number of Italians in the area who came from Verona.
