Pete Panto (1910 - 1939)

Pietro "Pete" Panto was an Italian American longshoreman and union activist who was murdered by the mob for speaking out and organizing against corrupt union leadership.

In 2022, The John D. Calandra Italian American Institute of Queens College, City University of New York organizied a successful fundraiser to install a tombstone at the unmarked grave of assassinated labor activist Pietro “Pete” Panto. To raise funds they produced this video:
